01Features

Everything a serious reader needs. Finally, in one place.

01

A customizable EPUB reader, distraction-free

EPUB, PDF, DOCX, and TXT — with serif and sans fonts, five themes including Sepia and Night, and precise control over size, spacing, and margins. Reading that feels like your kind of reading.

02

Tap any word while reading — instant definition

One tap reveals a word's meaning, pronunciation, and a sentence from the page you're on. Tap Learn to save it — spaced repetition then schedules reviews so it settles into long-term memory.

03

Book Pulse — see how a book moved you

Every emoji reaction you leave shapes a winding path through the book — a visual emotional map of your reading, unique to you and shareable in one tap.

04

AI that earns its place

Every flashcard is enriched with examples, related words, and a memory hook tied to the exact book and chapter you saved it from.

05

Streaks, goals, and the habit of reading daily

Set an annual goal and watch finished books fill it, cover by cover. A daily streak keeps momentum, and smart notifications nudge you at just the right moment — never more than once a day, never during quiet hours.

06

A community of readers who felt what you felt

Post reactions chapter by chapter. Follow readers with taste like yours, compare Book Pulse maps, and join forums built around the books you love. Reading is better when the feelings are shared.

02How it works

Five things happening while you just read.

Vocabulary is one of five pillars.

When you tap a word while reading, a flashcard is built in seconds — the word, the sentence it lived in, an AI definition, and four review buttons. That's the vocabulary loop. But it's running alongside four other quiet engines: Book Pulse is mapping your reactions, your streak is being tracked, your reading calendar is logging the session, and if you share it, other readers will see your journey too.

None of this interrupts the reading. You never have to leave the page. Bookxie handles the rest.

What readers say.

I've used Anki for seven years. Bookxie does what I always wanted Anki to do — be inside the book itself. I save words without breaking the spell of reading.

Reading apps usually feel cold. Bookxie feels like a beautifully designed notebook that happens to have a memory engine inside it. I read more because of it.

Three months in and I genuinely remember vocabulary from books for the first time in my life. The spaced-repetition just quietly does its job — I barely notice it until I realise the words are staying.

04Questions & answers

Everything you need to know.

What file formats does Bookxie support?
Bookxie supports EPUB files — the open standard for digital books. You can import any DRM-free EPUB directly from your device. Support for additional formats is on the roadmap. Beyond reading, Bookxie includes Book Pulse (emotional journey visualization), vocabulary builder with spaced repetition, reading streaks and goals, a reading calendar, and reader forums.
Is Bookxie free?
Yes. Bookxie is free to download and use. A Pro subscription unlocks advanced features. You can try Pro free for seven days — no credit card required, cancel any time.
How does the vocabulary and spaced-repetition system work?
Tap any word while reading to get an instant definition. Save it to create a vocabulary card — Bookxie uses AI to generate a definition, example sentences, and related words. Cards then enter a spaced-repetition review queue: you review them at scientifically optimised intervals so they move from short-term recognition into long-term memory, automatically.
Does it work offline?
Yes. Your entire library, reading progress, highlights, and vocabulary cards are stored locally on your device in a SQLite database. You can read, highlight, and review vocabulary cards with no internet connection. Changes sync to the cloud automatically when you come back online.
Can I sync across multiple devices?
Yes. Sign in with your Google account on any device — Android, iOS, Windows, or the web app at app.bookxie.com — and your library, reading position, highlights, notes, and vocabulary cards sync automatically in real time.
What is Book Pulse?
Book Pulse is Bookxie's emotional journey feature. As you react to chapters with emoji (🤯 😭 😍 😂 and others), Book Pulse draws a winding path through the book — where each twist and turn is shaped by your actual reactions. A mind-blowing chapter creates a dramatic figure-eight. A sad chapter droops. The result is a visual map of how the book moved you, unique to your reading — shareable in one tap as a beautiful image card.
Which platforms is Bookxie available on?
Bookxie is currently available on Android (Google Play), Windows (GitHub releases), and as a web app. An iOS version is coming soon.
How do I delete my account and data?
Email hello@bookxie.com and we will permanently delete your account and all associated data from our servers within 30 days. You can also export all your data first via Settings → Account → Export my data inside the app.
